Root canal therapy, also known as endodontics, is a procedure that treats the nerve (pulp) of the tooth that is found inside each tooth and supplies it with blood. Previously, when the nerve of a tooth became infected or abscessed, the tooth often had to be removed. Today, most teeth can be saved by having the infected nerve taken out.
